The Idea
There’s an idea here that I want to try to flesh out. I have had the privilege to work with a man going through a nasty divorce. At the beginning he was more of a Practical deist with no idea where to start to find answers to his questions. He didn’t know the Bible had two sections, or that Jesus was God incarnate, but he considered himself a Christian. Now, after working with him, introducing him to the church, giving him several Bibles (Study Bible, reference Bible, etc) teaching him how to study, doctrine, what repentance is, prayer, et al. He is a self sufficient and strong Christian.
Removing Myself as the Reason
I am not the reason this man turned himself around. I simply told him what I knew. God did his work in him and used myself, the church, and his circumstances to cause this shift in him. I was simply the means by which this all came about. I had no experience in dealing with divorce, alcoholism, or depression. I just used God’s word to show him a better way of thinking, but the emphasis I want to place is God’s Word. The Bible is the only tool I want to use in this series. I’m not that special. So forget that I am here and only focus on what the Bible draws out. I am just the person typing away and putting it out in front of you. Just like a waiter at a restaurant.
The Format
I will, starting tomorrow, start posting subjects that deal with certain areas of the Christian life. Starting with a practical understanding of your salvation as the Bible tells us. What is our identity in Christ? Why is this unique to other ways of living? What is expected of us? Then every post after this will deal with the practical outpouring of this teaching. I don’t know how long I will take, but I will go until the horse is killed ten times over. As per usual. My hope is that by the conclusion of the series we will have a reference that can be used to help many more Christians like the one I mentioned above grow and become faithful.
Please Pay Attention to This
I ask you all to follow my blog and subscribe. It is painfully obvious that small Christian thought blogs are being ignored because they have no name recognition. The content I put out is my heart being poured out in front of you, so I would ask that we make this series known to anyone who needs it.
Soli Deo Gloria!
